Sunday, September 27, 6 p.m. at Centennial Hall
936 Harpswell Neck Road, Harpswell Center, opposite HHS Museum
Many Mainers are descendants of Scottish-Irish settlers who immigrated to Maine in the 1700’s. U.S. census data from 2020 confirms that Maine has the highest percentage of self-identified Scottish and Scots-Irish descendants in the entire US. At this year’s annual meeting, we are honored to host John Mann, one of Maine’s foremost authorities on the Scots-Irish settler stories, who will speak on “Finding Maine’s Scottish Heritage.”
Also, HHS President Chuck Alexander will highlight some of the many achievements of the Harpswell Historical Society during the past 12 months and announce plans for the coming year. We will serve refreshments. It won’t be a long meeting, but bring a small cushion if you wish; the chairs could use a bit of padding.
