Sunday, September 27, 2 - 4 p.m. at the Merriconeag Grange
529 Harpswell Neck Rd at near Mountain Rd.
One hundred and fifty years ago, many Harpswellians were farming the land, which by then had mostly been cleared of trees from shore to shore. Please join us for a casual afternoon discussing farming in Harpswell. Hear about the evolution of farming practices in Harpswell as Sam Alexander recounts his seasonal work on the family farm during its long history of change. Historian John Ott will describe traditional farm implements, and both men will show examples of the tools and publications related to this local and still on-going story. Watch cider being pressed from fresh Harpswell apples and enjoy a sample from 2:30 to 3:30.
