The Amazing History of Maps of Harpswell and the Region

On January 17, 2026, Dr. Matthew Edney from the Osher Map Library will display and discuss examples of fascinating centuries-old maps from Harpswell and the region. Come see how early visitors and others mapped our town before the era of the GPS and computer-generated cartography. Dr Edney is the Osher Map Library Faculty Scholar and Osher Chair in the History of Cartography at the Osher Map Library at the University of Southern Maine in Portland.

Date and Time: January 17, 2026 from 4-5:30 p.m.

Place: Orr's Island Schoolhouse, 1594 Harpswell Islands Rd, Orr's Island.
