Union Hotel
Union Hotel, the largest structure in the area, sits atop a rise in the village. Built in 1862, it is believed to be the oldest purpose-built summer resort hotel in Maine and an early example of the development of coastal resort communities. The building served as a tavern and a church early in its history. It is a two-story wood-frame structure, with hip roof and clapboard siding. The roof is topped at its center by an octagonal cupola. The building trim is a vernacular Italianate style, with corner pilasters and deep eaves. Early photographs show it once had roof balustrades and a porch. The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
